After nearly two years without updates, Blog-Doc is back with a complete rewrite. Inspired by lessons learned while building Aether, this new version brings powerful features while returning to the project's original philosophy: keeping a Node.js CMS and static site generator as simple, lightweight, and enjoyable to use as possible.
It's been almost two years since Blog-Doc received an update.
I was away for a while and only recently came back. While looking through my open-source projects, I realized I had completely forgotten about Blog-Doc, and I had a decision to make: should I archive it now that its successor, Aether, was launched a year ago? There were a lot of questions to answer about the project I like the most.
Blog-Doc was actually the reason I created LiteNode in the first place. Later came Aether, a much deeper evolution of Blog-Doc itself.
After coming back, it took me nearly an hour to remember some of Aether's internal workings, and I didn't like that feeling at all. The goal of Blog-Doc has always been to be The Simplest Node.js CMS & SSG. I felt that Aether, while still being easy and pleasant to work with, had drifted away from that philosophy and was making simple tasks more complex internally.
That realization made me reconsider a lot of things.
So, I took most of Aether's features and brought them into Blog-Doc while staying true to my original philosophy:
"Simpler is always better. More is unnecessary noise when less can do the job."
Today, I'm happy to announce the latest major rewrite of Blog-Doc.
Give it a try, I think you'll be amazed by its simplicity and features!
And if you like it, please don't forget to star it on GitHub. Thanks in advance for your support!
